Obviously pronounced “spaceSh*tter”

Back pressure is not a good name for this. You already listed one that makes more sense - “feedback”

All I want is a top of the line MBP, with all it’s performance and insane battery life, but running a Linux distro of my choice :(

These things are so fast that you can run a virtual Linux without even noticing performance issues.

I literally tried that few days a go, what you're saying is not true.

Compiling Linux:

AMD 6800HS, ~4mins.

Apple M1 Pro, Linux VM, ~10 mins.

What's your virtualization setup?

Agreed, but probably getting a Lenovo Legion will be your best bet in the near term.

I'm driving a 2022 XPS. Lots of people will (and should) disagree, but I've completely shifted over from Thinkpads to Dell XPS (or Precision) for my laptops.

Running a 2024 xps 13 with Ubuntu for work and it's been solid. Had a Lenovo before this which was great bang for the buck but occasional issues with heating up during sleep. Would consider trying a Framework next.

Good choice, shocked that Dell haven't decided to create their own linux version or invest heavily into Ubuntu for software/hardware.

asahi linux

Doesn't run on M3 or M4 yet.

I'm guessing "of my choice" was key there. Though I suppose you could use asahi just as a virtualizer.

wolfSSL. Open source, widely used, flexible licensing model, TLS + DTLS 1.3 support, support for all modern ciphers and protocol extensions, extremely tuneable for performance/size, FIPS module, excellent customer support, the list goes on....
