I'm just being honest but the parent said "production," is that your idea of what that means?

If you go by percentage of Americans, well consider the percentage of Americans that are actually net taxpayers.

So, this is a complete nonsense take. Why do people keep making this kind of comparison? Is there really such a lack of critical thinking being taught these days?

What you were taught no longer matters, compared to what some of the rest of have learned over the past couple of years. Sorry. Shoot the messenger if it makes you feel better, but it won't change anything.

This comment has no substance to it. It's the same as posting "I am right and you are wrong. 'Sorry' if me being right makes you feel bad, but you are wrong."

People are asking legitimate questions whenever this is brought up, because the comparison is wrong. Compilers are an optimization of the previous paradigm, they let you do the exact same thing as what was done in the preceding decades, just faster. LLMs are not that, they are just a completely separate thing that exists alongside regular programming. Arguing that their use isn't just another option, but a superior and total replacement doesn't explain why you think that randomness is a perfect substitute for determinism. The only people I see promoting this view are ones who only want to look at graphs where lines are going up without caring about anything else. Because I think that even if LLMs get 10 times better, we'll still have industries and use cases where determinism will dominate, ones where you get one take to get things right. For instance, I would not fly on a plane with firmware that was created by a guy hitting Generate, going for a coffee break, coming back and saying "yea looks good".

Is that so? What do janitors? They clean offices, right? What's in offices? Oh people. If no people are office workers, no offices need cleaning, no need for janitors. I think the economy is more complex than people think. It's not like "just be a plumber" is going help anyone.

Maybe its because in the UK, you are basically just giving all of your money to the government so there is nothing to work out.

Has anyone in these comments ever heard of QuickBooks?

I hear you. It is impressive technically but as far as finding flaws, I will just say this. This looks like something aliens would create in a dystopian simulation based on very odd understanding of old movies. I found it quite unsettling. Do you really think this would replace films with real actors and real writers (assuming they left the millennial talk and "modern audience" stuff)? I think the memes and parodies for AI video is more interesting than this kind of thing.

Yeah, but compare the salaries to the US and then factor in taxes.

And healthcare, public transport, vacations, sick leave, maternity and paternity leave, layoff notice, layoff package, ....

Personally the salary isn't worth it.

Most tech companies give paternity/maternity leave. There is the WARN act and most companies provide severance. Are the packages always great? No, but I don't think equivalent in Europe are that much better. Public transport? That's your preference and lifestyle, I don't think that factors in here. Most tech companies provide decent insurance and don't require being part of some socialized wait-list system. And the salaries are quite a bit higher and without the Byzantine level of taxes. I think you might want to analyze it a little more.

Do this comparison both ways and factor in what you pay in addition for American high-stress/low-quality healthcare, college, retirement, etc. If you’re on the higher-end of the SV tech salaries, you’ll probably still come out ahead but for everyone else even Denmark tends to be cheaper.

No. Very large numbers of Indians, particularly ones in the US do not even really speak Hindi or use it much. It is more common for them to speak their local languages and good luck learning all of those. Also, the culture is such that I think they would just have a good laugh as they click delete on your resume or whatever.

I'm sure there are innumerable Adderall infused "startups" vibe coding this exact thing right now.
