I'm surprised that method of communication isn't more common. It feels like an untapped method. Is it appropriate to call something as simple as sharing an annotated PDF to the web novel? I like it.
Any essay authored by a billionaire, that includes a tacit reference to pre-revolution Russian thought is worth scrutinizing to this degree.
Yeah! Jacobs does this often, and I love the form. I've been experimenting with ways to do this kind of thing in small reading groups: pick an essay or a book, read at your own pace, mark it up and share passages you found interesting, have others do the same and respond to your passages and reflections, etc.
You can do this slowly and asynchronously over email, or in a Google Doc, or even in a shared Apple Note. Less about the tool or the product, more about clearly setting expectations for commentary and communication.
