Nigeria doesn't have local banks or companies that offer payment gateways? My country didn't have Stripe support for a long time but that didn't stop us in any way from participating in the internet economy.
I have seen this with many other people as well, if you hold certain passports then your ability to use the tools and products which other founders can easily use to get from zero to market are very limited and often impossible at all. They make you jump through so many hurdles and at the end then still reject you for non specific reasons and leave you hanging feeling utterly helpless. If this happens a few times in a row then it's not hard to see how certain people feel completely disheartened and excluded.
This is more about the company than the owner, though. Incorporate elsewhere and problem solved - that's what we did at the next startup I worked for. There are many English speaking countries where company incorporation is easy and cheap for anyone and you don't even need to come visit.
